Police Officers Leave Man in Critical Condition Because Their Shift was Almost Over

Two St. Louis, Missouri police officers have been caught on body camera footage seemingly dismissing their duties after discovering a man who had been shot in a local park. The officers, identified as Ty Warren and Austin Fraser, are heard using derogatory language to refer to the victim and expressing frustration about the additional workload.

The incident occurred when the officers were responding to a 911 call from a man named Urayoan Rodriguez-Rivera, who had indicated his intention to commit suicide. The call came in just 30 minutes before the officers were due to finish their shift. The footage reveals that upon finding Rodriguez-Rivera’s body in Forest Park on September 10, 2023, the officers expressed surprise and noted that the victim appeared to be severely injured but still alive.

Despite the critical condition of Rodriguez-Rivera, the officers decided to leave the scene and return later. The footage captures them discussing their plan to “cruise around and come back.” They did return to the scene when a third officer arrived but left shortly after, according to authorities.

Interestingly, while Rodriguez-Rivera’s death has been officially ruled a suicide, the police were unable to locate the firearm. St. Louis police spokesman Mitch McCoy stated that the missing gun is being treated as stolen and its disappearance is under investigation. The police are also monitoring any related activity on the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network.

McCoy also commented on the conduct of the two officers involved. He confirmed that neither Warren nor Fraser is currently employed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. While he did not provide specific details about their dismissal, he emphasized that the department holds its officers to the highest standards and will take appropriate disciplinary action if an officer is found to have violated policies.
