Police Officer Dies After Cosmetic Surgery

A 26-year-old police officer from Louisiana, Wilderness Rosa, tragically lost her life after undergoing a cosmetic procedure in Miami. This incident has sparked a conversation about the potential risks associated with such surgeries. Rosa, who had recently returned from a deployment in Kuwait with the U.S. Army Reserve, had a promising future. She had ambitions of joining the FBI, demonstrating her commitment to serving her community and country.

Rosa had traveled to Miami in March for a Brazilian Butt Lift, a procedure that combines liposuction and fat transfer injections. The surgery, which cost $7,500, was performed at the Prestige Plastic Surgery Clinic. Rosa’s family was not aware of her plans, believing she was in Miami to celebrate her birthday.

Three days after the procedure, Rosa’s family became concerned when she failed to respond to their messages. On March 23, a friend found Rosa unresponsive at a short-term rental property. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Rosa’s death was due to a pulmonary embolism, a complication arising from blood clots related to the cosmetic procedure.

Rosa’s sister, Ana Vasquez, recalled the troubling symptoms Rosa displayed post-surgery. She experienced severe pain, her skin turned pale, her pupils dilated, and she lost sensation in her legs. Despite these alarming signs, it was too late to save her.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office has documented 25 deaths related to cosmetic surgeries in the past three and a half years. This statistic underscores the potential dangers of these procedures. Vasquez hopes that her sister’s tragic story will serve as a warning to others contemplating similar surgeries.

When reached for comment, Prestige Plastic Surgery did not provide specific details about Rosa’s case. However, they insisted that they follow all necessary protocols.
