Woman Set on Fire by Boyfriend

A Wisconsin woman sustained severe burns in a horrifying incident where her boyfriend allegedly doused her in a flammable liquid and set her ablaze. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on a Sunday at a residence in Salem Lakes. The woman managed to contact the police, informing them of the gruesome act.

The Kenosha Sheriff’s Department responded promptly, transporting the severely burned woman to a nearby hospital. She had sustained critical injuries to her upper arms, face, and head. According to investigators, the woman reported that she was in bed when her boyfriend, identified as Myron Bowie, threw a liquid on her and set it alight.

The police complaint revealed that four young children were present in the house during the incident. The children were reportedly distressed, making statements suggesting their father was responsible for the act. The police immediately launched a manhunt for the 36-year-old Bowie, who had allegedly threatened to harm the victim’s family before setting her on fire.

Bowie was later apprehended near Chicago, Illinois, thanks to numerous tips from the community about his location. Meanwhile, the victim remained in critical condition at the hospital, but doctors expect her to survive.

The violent incident sent shockwaves through the otherwise peaceful neighborhood. Residents expressed their disbelief and concern over the incident. Rickey Matthews, a local resident, told WTMJ-TV, “It’s scary. I picture this to be a good class neighborhood, it still is, but you got a few bad apples out there.” Another resident, Donna Kiser, expressed her shock, saying, “That drastic, that violence… that was, my whole reaction was like wow. Wow. Holy cow.”

Matthews added, “She just gotta stay prayed up with her family. God will be with her.” Bowie now faces charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide (domestic abuse), a felony. If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison.
