Man stabbed to death after dispute over not saying ‘Thank you’

Witness: Man stabbed to death after argument over saying ‘thank you’ – WSBTV

At a smoke shop in Brooklyn, a New York City man was stabbed to death. It is alleged that a man who held a door open for another customer didn’t receive a thank you for his kindness.

The fatal altercation occurred around 10:20 p.m. at 4th Ave. Tobacco Road Corp.

Police said the 37-year-old victim – whose family is still being notified – held the door open for another customer.

He just didn’t say ‘thank you’ for opening the door, said Kharef Alsaidi, an employee of the bodega.

According to Alsaidi, the victim – who wears white in the video – opened the door for the suspect and then asked, “Why don’t you say thank you?”

Apparently, the suspect replied, “I didn’t ask you to open the door for me.”

Afterwards, Alsaidi recalled, “It was just about not saying thanks to you for opening the door for him and, you know, they just started talking about, you know, ‘You can’t do anything!’ Just threats.”

Security cameras captured the moment the two men engaged in a physical confrontation. Video shows the men slamming into the walls and glass showcases of the store.

Assaidi said he called 911 right away and told the person, “Just put the knife away. The guy isn’t worth it. It’s not worth it. I tried my best to de-escalate the situation, but nothing worked.”

WABC-TV reports that the verbal dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation outside the store, and the victim taunted the suspect, saying, “Stab me if you can.”

A New York Post report stated, “The door-holder punched the other man as he hopped aboard his e-bike to leave, prompting his rival to attack him with a sharp object.”

After grabbing a knife from his e-bike, the suspect stabbed the victim in the abdomen and neck.

The victim began screaming, “He stabbed me! He stabbed me!” He entered the store stumbling and bleeding heavily.

As a result of the injury, the victim was rushed to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the suspected killer rode his bike south, toward Carroll Street, away from the crime scene.

The suspect in the deadly stabbing is still being sought by police.

According to reports, the suspect wore a black sweater, white shirt, and jeans. Last seen with a black backpack on.
