The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said Gerber died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility; a cause of death has not been released.
LOS ANGELES — Presley Gerber, a model and the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died Sunday at age 27, according to a family representative and records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. A cause of death was not immediately available.
The medical examiner’s records listed Gerber’s death as occurring Sept. 20 at a rehabilitation facility. An autopsy had not been completed when the death was first reported, and authorities had not publicly released further details about the circumstances. Allie Jenkins, a representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber, confirmed the death Sunday night. “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Jenkins said.
Gerber was the eldest child of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber. He followed his mother and sister into fashion, beginning his modeling career as a teenager. His work included campaigns and runway appearances for major fashion brands, including Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana.
One of his more widely seen appearances came in 2018, when Gerber joined his mother in a Pepsi advertisement shown during Super Bowl LII. The commercial connected a new generation of the Crawford family with one of Cindy Crawford’s best-known advertising roles. Gerber continued working in fashion afterward and appeared at industry and entertainment events with members of his family.
Gerber also began speaking publicly in recent years about his experiences with mental health and substance use. In 2025, he introduced a social media series called “Mental Health Mondays,” which he said was intended to encourage candid discussion about subjects people often keep private. His public comments became a more visible part of his work alongside his modeling career.
In May, Crawford and Rande Gerber appeared with their son at a Malibu event connected to the We Are Enough mental health campaign. Crawford posted about the event afterward and expressed pride in her son for participating in conversations about mental health. The appearance came several months before his death and was among the family’s recent public events together.
Kaia Gerber also spoke about her brother during an interview published by Vogue in August. She discussed how his struggles had affected the wider family and described him as unusually willing to speak openly about difficult parts of his life. Her comments reflected a shift toward greater public discussion within a family that had generally kept personal matters private.
Those earlier disclosures do not establish what caused Gerber’s death. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had not announced a cause, and reports that he died at a rehabilitation facility do not by themselves explain the medical circumstances surrounding his death. No official finding connecting his past health or substance-use struggles to his death had been released.
Gerber was born in Beverly Hills, California, in 1999. Along with his individual modeling work, he appeared professionally with members of his family and was photographed at fashion events in the United States and Europe. Crawford and Rande Gerber married in 1998, and their daughter Kaia was born two years after Presley.
As news of Gerber’s death spread Monday, attention remained focused on the family and on unanswered questions surrounding his death. The medical examiner had not released a final cause of death, and no timetable for completion of the examination had been announced publicly. His family continued to request privacy.
