Children’s Party Incident Kills 2, Injures 13

A tragic incident unfolded at a children’s birthday party in Michigan on Saturday when a vehicle, allegedly driven by an intoxicated 66-year-old woman, crashed into the Swan Creek Boat Club. The accident resulted in the death of two young siblings and left 13 others injured, according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when the woman’s vehicle sped 25 feet into the boat club, where children and their parents were celebrating. The first responders described the scene as extremely chaotic, with high emotions from those directly involved and witnesses of the horrifying event.

A video captured the woman’s blue SUV speeding through the club’s parking lot and crashing into the back wall of the building, narrowly missing a lamp post. The impact caused a plume of debris to explode from the corner of the frame, indicating the catastrophic damage caused by the crash.

Among the victims were an 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother who died at the scene. Three children and six adults were transported to local hospitals by helicopters and ambulances, some with life-threatening injuries. Other injured individuals received first aid on-site, and some were taken to hospitals in private vehicles.

The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in death. She was reportedly cooperating with the authorities, and additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

In response to the tragedy, the Swan Creek Boat Club announced its closure for the rest of the weekend. The club expressed its sorrow over the accident on Facebook, asking for prayers for the injured and their families.

The accident took place in Berlin Township, located approximately 30 miles south of Detroit.
