On Monday, a woman was tragically found dead at a high-end spa and resort in the Hamptons, according to local law enforcement. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was discovered by an employee in a guest room at the Shou Sugi Ban House in Water Mill, Suffolk County, around midday.
Authorities were called to the scene to investigate the “suspicious death.” Upon arrival, they quickly determined that the woman had been a victim of a violent act. However, the specifics of the woman’s injuries or the cause of her death were not disclosed by the police. The county medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The Shou Sugi Ban House, located at 337 Montauk Highway, is a luxury resort with 13 private guest studios. The resort is nestled within a gated compound, surrounded by evergreen trees and lush grasses, spanning over five acres. The resort prides itself on being a “private sanctuary,” offering a destination retreat and luxury spa, along with a standalone luxury residence for short-term rentals.
The guest studios, each measuring 400 square feet, are equipped with either a king or queen bed, a luxurious soaking tub, a modern gas fireplace, and private garden patios. The resort’s website states that each studio can accommodate up to two guests.
The average cost for a night’s stay in these studios is around $1,000, with a “signature romance package” designed for couples priced at $1,250 per night. The resort also offers add-on spa and wellness treatments, as well as on-site dining options for guests.
