In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl from Georgia, identified as Sarah Patrick, is being charged as an adult for the alleged murder of her mother and stepfather. The victims were discovered lifeless in their residence, with their youngest daughter, aged six, being the one to stumble upon the gruesome scene. The announcement of the charges was made by Ashley Hulsey, the spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, during a press conference held on Tuesday.
The tragic event unfolded in February at the Brock family home in Tyus. The victims, James Brock, 45, and Kristin Brock, 41, were found with multiple gunshot injuries. At the time of their untimely demise, the couple was living with Patrick and their younger daughter.
According to Hulsey, the youngest child discovered her parents’ bodies and informed Patrick, who then placed the 911 call. The spokesperson underscored the traumatic ordeal for the young child, stating that she is perhaps the most pitiful victim in this entire situation.
The investigation led to Patrick’s arrest, with Hulsey indicating that a significant amount of evidence pointed towards her involvement. The spokesperson also shed light on the tragic circumstances surrounding James Brock’s death, who had previously battled numerous health issues, including heart surgeries. He was reportedly on the waiting list for a heart transplant at the time of his death.
Hulsey expressed the deep sense of loss for the family, stating that James Brock’s life was cut short despite having been given numerous chances to live. The spokesperson also lamented the fact that a mother and stepfather will never get the chance to raise their children and the impact of the incident on the young girl in the home.
Patrick is facing two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The investigation is still underway, with authorities examining whether other family members may have aided Patrick in hiding her alleged crimes.
When questioned about Patrick’s attempts to conceal the incident, Hulsey said that her failure to immediately disclose what happened was suspicious. However, the spokesperson also acknowledged the difficulty in understanding the mindset of a young person in such a situation. Patrick was handed over to the police by her biological father after authorities informed him of the arrest warrants for the Brock murders. Hulsey hinted at the possibility of others being involved, stating that the investigation is still ongoing.
