Pro Poker Player Reported Missing During Vegas Tournament

Yuto Moriyasu, a 26-year-old professional poker player from Japan, has been reported missing in Las Vegas since July 2, 2025. Moriyasu was in the city to participate in the World Series of Poker, as per a close friend identified as Sasa. Sasa has been actively seeking assistance in locating Moriyasu through various social media platforms.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that a missing person’s report had been filed for Moriyasu. However, the police spokesperson clarified that Moriyasu is not currently considered to be in danger.

Sasa, who accompanied Moriyasu to Las Vegas, shared that Moriyasu did not return to their Airbnb accommodation after a visit to a casino on July 2. Moriyasu’s passport and wallet were also reported missing. Sasa expressed concern over Moriyasu’s sudden disappearance, noting that his car, phone, and personal belongings were left undisturbed at their shared accommodation.

Sasa further detailed that there were no signs of disturbance in the house, and no surveillance cameras were installed in the house or car. They also checked with neighboring houses, but none had surveillance cameras. Moriyasu’s $10,000 buy-in for the World Series of Poker main event was also missing.

On July 3, Sasa filed a missing person’s report with the police, providing them with a receipt as evidence. They have also reached out to the local consulate and other relevant authorities. Sasa confirmed that there is no record of Moriyasu returning to Japan.

Sasa expressed frustration over the lack of leads in Moriyasu’s disappearance, stating that they were “completely stuck without any clues.” They have since shared multiple photos of Moriyasu on social media, urging the public to provide any information that could assist in locating him.

The 2025 World Series of Poker, which began on May 27 and runs through July 16, is being held at the Horseshoe and Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The first of four WSOP Main Event starting flights commenced on July 2, the same day Moriyasu was reported missing.
