Teen charged in massacre of his family, believing they were ‘cannibals’ who were out to eat him

An eighteen-year-old in Nash, Texas, is facing capital murder charges for the deaths of his parents, his older sister, and younger brother. Cesar Olalde is accused of shooting each of the victims multiple times in their family residence. According to a probable cause affidavit, the defendant held a brief standoff with responding officers before his arrest. It is believed that he killed them under the assumption that they were “cannibals” who were out to “eat him”.

Joseph Flieder, a witness who had gone to the residence to check on one of the siblings, stated that the suspect had pointed his weapon at him and made incriminating statements. In addition, the defendant made multiple calls to 911 and admitted to pulling the trigger.

When officers arrived on scene, the victims were found in a bathroom with blood spatter on multiple surfaces and multiple spent cartridge casings on the floor. Diana Olalde, the defendant’s older sister, has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral services of her family, raising over forty thousand dollars thus far.

Cesar Olalde is currently behind bars on a ten-million-dollar bond, with Jeff Harrelson appointed as his defense attorney.

The defendant recently graduated from high school, according to the Texarkana Gazette.
