‘Targeted’ shooting kills 4-year-old girl

On Tuesday night in Nashville, Tennessee, an appalling tragedy occurred in the form of a shooting at the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Douglas Avenue. Three children, one of them only four years old, were inside the car when two people approached and fired upon it.

The 4-year-old, Taliyah Frazier, was shot in the head and sadly passed away from her injuries. One of the two-year-old victims was grazed in the head by a bullet, and the 22-year-old man behind the wheel was shot in the arm.

More than 20 casings were found on the ground from the shooting, and another car was also struck with bullets. Fortunately, there were no further injuries.

A witness to the shooting reported that they were in a Lyft vehicle when the assailants drew near and opened fire. The Lyft driver acted in haste and sped away from the corner. At the same time, the passengers heard shots ringing out until they had driven several miles down the road.

Metro Police believe this was a targeted shooting and are still pursuing the perpetrators. The motive remains unclear.

The community is in shock from Taliyah Frazier’s death, and many people are feeling insecurity in the wake of such senseless violence. The police hope that anyone with information will come forward and help them in their investigation.
