EL MIRAGE, Calif. — Authorities in San Bernardino County have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of six bodies in a remote Mojave Desert area near El Mirage. The victims were found following a wellness check off Highway 395 on Tuesday evening, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokesperson, Mara Rodriguez.
Initially, five bodies were located at the scene, but a sixth person was found deceased early Wednesday morning. The identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding their deaths have not been released. The cause and manner of death, as well as whether any gunshot wounds were present, remain unknown, Rodriguez said.
Investigators from the sheriff’s specialized investigations division are leading the inquiry. Notable aspects of the crime scene include a white minivan and a dark blue SUV with bullet holes. Additionally, three of the bodies near the vehicles appeared to have burn injuries. No arrests have been made in connection with the deaths.
El Mirage is situated approximately 20 miles west of the Victorville city limits. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather information and bring justice to the victims.
