Phillies pitcher crashed into wall after police spotted him driving fast

Konnor Thomas Ash, a 23-year-old minor league pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies’ local Single-A affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with property damage after police officers witnessed him driving at a high rate of speed and crashing.

As per the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, officers were alerted to the incident at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, with Ash’s car striking a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) speed limit sign and a wall near the intersection of Indian Rocks Road and West Bay Drive in Belleair Bluffs, causing an estimated $20,000 in damages.

Upon arriving, they discovered Ash sitting outside the open driver’s side door with minor injuries, who then admitted to driving the vehicle, losing control and crashing.

Ash was then taken to a local hospital and later released on a $500 bond. He also refused to give a blood sample, with the investigation being ongoing.

Overall, Ash has a career record of 4-2 with a 4.94 ERA in 40 games since 2021.
