Newlywed Couple Fatally Shot in Sports Bar, Assailant Still at Large

A tragic incident unfolded last week in a Wisconsin sports bar, where a newlywed couple was fatally shot. The victims, Gina Weingart, 37, and Emerson Weingart, 33, were regular patrons of the Sports Page Barr in Elkhorn, where Gina also worked as a bartender. The couple, who had just tied the knot this past summer, were found with fatal gunshot wounds shortly after midnight last Thursday. The assailant remains at large, with law enforcement agencies still on the hunt.

The call reporting shots fired at the bar prompted a swift response from multiple agencies. However, upon their arrival, the officers found no trace of the perpetrator. The owner of the bar, Jordan Barr, expressed his shock and grief over the incident in a Facebook post, referring to the shooter as a “coward.”

The Weingarts were well-known and loved by the bar’s staff and patrons. Gina had even been offered a part-time job at the establishment due to her close ties with the community. Both victims were Wisconsin natives, having grown up in the Badger State. They were married in June, according to their obituaries.

Emerson was known for his love of fishing and the Green Bay Packers, while Gina was fond of singing and dancing. The couple began dating in 2020 and quickly became inseparable. Their loved ones remember them as “two of the most beautiful, kindhearted and fun-loving people you could ever know.”

Elkhorn, a city of approximately 10,000 residents, is located about 40 miles from Milwaukee. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the police have yet to release a description of the suspect.

Emerson’s father, Jeff Weingart, has made a public plea for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. He expressed his disbelief that no one saw anything, insisting that someone must have seen the shooter or their vehicle.
