South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, known for her role in the 2023 Netflix series “Bloodhounds,” tragically ended her life at the age of 24, according to police reports on Monday. The actress was discovered deceased in her Seongdong-gu, Seoul residence on Sunday around 4:50 p.m. local time by a friend who was scheduled to meet her.
Authorities have stated their belief that the actress took her own life, and they plan to treat the case as a suicide. They also confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene. The investigation into her death is still ongoing, with police stating that there were no indications of foul play.
Kim Sae-ron began her acting career at the tender age of nine and quickly rose to prominence with her performances in the 2010 action film “The Man from Nowhere” and the 2012 thriller “The Neighbor.” However, her career took a downturn in May 2022 when she was involved in a drunk driving incident, crashing her car into a roadside electrical transformer box.
The incident, which was widely reported by the South China Morning Post, led to a fine of 20 million won, equivalent to $13,850, and forced the actress to retreat from the public eye. The public backlash was so severe that she had to step down from her role in the drama series “Trolley.”
Despite her attempts to return to the limelight in the following year, health issues further hindered her comeback. Her last appearance was in the action series “Bloodhounds,” the same series that brought her significant recognition. Throughout her career, Kim Sae-ron received numerous accolades and was honored as “Best New Actress” at several Korean arts awards ceremonies, as per her IMDb page.
