A New York-based minister, who also worked at a hospital, is currently under investigation for alleged inappropriate behavior with a minor. Reginal Sherry, a 46-year-old Brooklyn resident, was arrested at his residence following accusations of multiple incidents involving an underage girl over a two-year period.
Sherry has been charged with conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between January 2014 and August 2016. Despite the serious allegations, Sherry has pleaded not guilty in court. His bail has been set at $150,000 in cash.
In his professional life, Sherry served as a chaplain at Saint John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, Queens. He also held a position as a minister at the South Bronx Seventh Day Adventist Church. These allegations have led the Nassau County Police Special Victims Squad to appeal for any other potential victims to step forward as part of their ongoing investigation.
The case has caused considerable concern within the community, particularly among those who have connections to the institutions where Sherry was employed. The police are actively encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist with their investigation.
Attempts to reach Saint John’s Episcopal Hospital for a comment regarding the arrest have so far been unsuccessful. Efforts to secure a response from the church and its governing body have also yielded no results.
The investigation into Sherry’s alleged misconduct is ongoing, with authorities emphasizing the crucial role of community cooperation in uncovering the full extent of the allegations. As the investigation progresses, further updates will be provided.
The primary focus of the authorities remains on securing justice for the alleged victim and any others who may come forward. Community members are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the police.
