Man drowns on honeymoon in Hawaii, and thieves steal their belongings from the beach

Steven Phan, a newlywed from California, tragically drowned during his honeymoon with his wife Brittany in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 1. The couple had only been married for three months.

According to a GoFundMe page set up in memory of the couple, Steven was pulled from the ocean by a spear fisherman and bystanders began CPR until first responders arrived.

Shockingly, thieves took advantage of the situation by stealing the couple’s belongings, including their cell phones, wallets, money, clothing, and even their rental car. Following public outcry, Honolulu is planning to place a new lifeguard stand at the beach to increase safety.

On the GoFundMe page, it is said that Steven will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a true friend and an amazing husband who always found a way to be a part of everyone’s lives, no matter the distance.
