KC Chiefs Star Arrested on Assault Charge

Xavier Worthy, a standout rookie receiver for the Chiefs, was reportedly taken into custody on Friday night on an assault charge. This incident occurred just a month after Worthy’s remarkable performance in Super Bowl 59, where he scored two touchdowns. According to jail records, Worthy was charged with assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.

The news of Worthy’s arrest was first reported in Houston. The incident took place in Williamson County, Texas. However, more specific details about the incident were not immediately disclosed.

The Chiefs organization has acknowledged the situation, stating, “We are aware and gathering information.” This incident adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the team, as four other players were arrested last season.

Worthy, a 21-year-old California native, had a successful college football career at Texas before being selected as the Chiefs’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His arrest comes as a shock, especially considering his recent Super Bowl performance and promising future in the league.

Among the other Chiefs players arrested last season was Rashee Rice, another receiver who had a strong rookie season and Super Bowl performance. Rice was arrested once on an assault charge, which was later dropped, and once for his involvement in a high-speed car crash that resulted in damage to five vehicles.
