The families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout expressed their profound grief in a statement. It remains unclear whether the couple was filming at the time of the tragic incident. The family’s statement poignantly noted, “They are together forever as we knew they would always be.” The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest that the couple may have lost control of their vehicle on rough terrain.

Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager with Kaslo Search and Rescue, shared details of the rescue operation with CBC. He stated that the emergency call was received around 7:30 p.m., and the rescue teams had a precise location for the couple.
