Husband Executed His Wife in Cemetery Parking Lot

A man from Indiana, aged 49, is facing a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of murdering his wife. The 47-year-old woman was fatally shot in a car at a cemetery in 2024. The Madison County jury convicted Jeremy Hinson of murder and a felony firearm enhancement last week, according to law enforcement officials.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a “suspicious vehicle” at the Forrestville Cemetery, approximately 65 miles northeast of Indianapolis, around 3 p.m. on June 26, 2024. The caller reported seeing a dark-colored SUV parked near the back of the cemetery, with an adult male and female inside. The caller approached the vehicle and knocked on the window, but received no response from either occupant.

First responders arrived at the scene to find Michela Hinson, the wife of the accused, dead in the driver’s seat. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and stomach. Jeremy Hinson, initially unresponsive, soon woke up and exited the vehicle. A search revealed a handgun in his waistband. He was then transported to Community Hospital Anderson for a potential drug overdose.

While at the hospital, officials noted blood spatter on Jeremy Hinson’s face, arms, hands, and feet. A subsequent search warrant executed on his vehicle revealed five bullet holes in the driver’s seat cushion and five bullet casings inside the car. A loaded 9 mm handgun and a second magazine were also found.

Michela Hinson, a mother of two boys, was employed as a school bus driver for the City of Anderson Transit System. During his incarceration, Jeremy Hinson confessed to the murder of his wife in a recorded conversation with a family member. He expressed regret, particularly for the impact on his sons, stating, “I feel most bad for the boys in this situation. Obviously I wasn’t thinking right. I don’t know what happened to make me do that, but tell them I love them.”

Jeremy Hinson is set to appear in court for his sentencing hearing in September. He could face a sentence ranging from 50 to 65 years in a state correctional facility.
