Garth Brooks Faces Sexual Assault Allegations from Former Makeup Artist

Country music icon Garth Brooks is facing serious allegations of sexual assault and battery, according to a lawsuit filed by a former makeup artist. The lawsuit, lodged in a California state court on Thursday, alleges that the incidents took place in 2019. The plaintiff, referred to as “Jane Roe” in the legal documents, accuses Brooks of rape during a work trip in Los Angeles.

The plaintiff’s legal team expressed confidence in their case, stating that they believe the public will eventually see a different side of Brooks, contrasting with his carefully crafted public image. The lawsuit alleges that the assault left the plaintiff both physically and emotionally traumatized.

The lawsuit details that the plaintiff and Brooks were in Los Angeles for a Grammys tribute to R&B singer Sam Moore in 2019. It alleges that only one hotel room was booked for both of them. The plaintiff claims that she felt trapped in the room with Brooks, who allegedly appeared naked in the doorway and flexed his muscles.

The lawsuit further alleges that Brooks raped the plaintiff. It also accuses him of repeatedly exposing himself, discussing sexual fantasies, changing clothes in front of her, and sending sexually explicit text messages.

The plaintiff began working for Brooks in 2017, providing hair and makeup services. She was initially hired in 1999 to work for Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood. The plaintiff’s legal team commended her bravery in coming forward with her allegations against Brooks, encouraging other potential victims to do the same.

Brooks has categorically denied the allegations, describing the past two months as a period of harassment filled with threats and lies. He stated that he felt as though he was being extorted for millions of dollars. Brooks also revealed that his legal team had filed a lawsuit against the plaintiff a month prior, alleging extortion and defamation of character.

Despite the serious allegations, Brooks continued to perform in Las Vegas hours after the news broke. He shared an emotional message on social media after his performance at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, thanking his fans for their support.

Douglas H. Wigdor, the attorney representing the plaintiff, expressed confidence in their case. He disputed Brooks’ claim that he was unwilling to pay millions, stating that the public will eventually see Brooks’ true character.
