Man Faces Multiple Charges After Alleged Assault on Ex-Girlfriend

A man from Florida is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into his former girlfriend’s apartment and assaulting her, according to local authorities. The man, identified as 29-year-old Christopher Luis Gonzalez, is accused of burglary, assault, battery, domestic violence, and kidnapping in connection with the incident involving his ex-girlfriend. The details of the case were made available through online court records.

The incident, which took place on July 31, involved a woman who had been in a relationship with Gonzalez for a brief period of two weeks. The woman reported to the police that she had just returned home from work when Gonzalez forced his way into her apartment as she was attempting to close the door.

According to the arrest report, the woman sought refuge in her bathroom, locking the door behind her. However, Gonzalez managed to kick down the door and proceeded to physically assault her, landing several punches on her body and face. This caused her to fall into the shower.

While she was in the shower, Gonzalez allegedly threatened her life saying “your life will end tonight”, demanding a knife and making alarming statements about her not seeing her children again. After the assault, Gonzalez reportedly ceased his attack, moved to the living room, and began to express remorse for his actions, acknowledging that he had committed domestic violence and would likely face jail time.

The report further states that Gonzalez then instructed the woman to get into his car. Fearing further violence, she complied. They drove to a market where she requested ice for her injuries. When Gonzalez went into the store, the woman seized the opportunity to escape, calling an Uber to take her to her sister’s house. She was later hospitalized for cuts that required stitches.

Gonzalez is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond. Online jail records indicate that a pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Friday.
