3-Year-Old Twins Found Dead in Car on Interstate

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning when twin toddlers, aged three, were discovered unresponsive in a vehicle parked on the Golden Glades Interchange, a bustling junction where Interstate 95 meets Florida’s Turnpike in Miami. The female driver of the car, critically injured, leapt from an overpass as law enforcement arrived on the scene, according to local authorities.

The Miami-Dade County Police began receiving a series of 911 calls around 2 a.m., alerting them to the presence of the children, a boy and a girl, in the backseat of the parked car. Good Samaritans who had arrived on the scene were attempting to perform CPR on the children when police and fire-rescue teams arrived.

In a shocking twist, the woman driver jumped from the overpass, landing on train tracks several feet below. Emergency services quickly transported the children to a nearby hospital, where they were tragically pronounced dead. The woman, whose relationship to the children has not yet been clarified, was also rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

Detective Andre Martin spoke to the media, stating that investigators are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this devastating event. As of now, no names have been released, and authorities have not disclosed any potential cause of death for the children.

The incident has caused significant disruption to the traffic flow north of Downtown Miami, resulting in delays for commuter trains. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing their efforts to gather more information about the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
