Christopher Gregor, a New Jersey resident and father of one, faced the court on Tuesday for the alleged murder of his 6-year-old son, Corey Micciolo, in 2021. If found guilty, Gregor could be sentenced to life imprisonment. A chilling video was presented in court, allegedly showing the child abuse that took place before the young boy’s demise.
The surveillance video, sourced from CourtTV.com, depicted Gregor compelling his son to run on a treadmill at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center on March 20, 2021. The footage showed Gregor increasing the treadmill’s speed and incline, causing the child to repeatedly fall and struggle to stay on the machine. In a shocking moment, Gregor is seen biting his son’s head while placing him on the fast-moving treadmill.
Sadly, Corey Micciolo succumbed to his injuries on April 2, 2021. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force injuries, cardiac and liver contusions, acute inflammation, and sepsis. During the trial, Corey’s mother, Bre Micciolo, was the first to testify. She was visibly shaken while watching the distressing video.
Days before Corey’s tragic death, Bre Micciolo reported her son’s injuries to the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency. Reports indicate that during a doctor’s visit, Corey disclosed that his father forced him to run on the treadmill because he thought the child was “too fat.” The next day, Gregor rushed Corey to the hospital after the boy showed worrying symptoms such as stumbling, slurred speech, nausea, and shortness of breath.
A forensic pathologist ruled Corey’s death a homicide, citing chronic abuse, including blunt impact injuries to the chest and abdomen, a heart laceration, a left pulmonary contusion, and liver laceration and contusion.
Gregor was apprehended in July 2021 on child neglect charges after investigators reviewed the surveillance footage. He rejected a 30-year plea deal and is currently detained without bond at the Ocean City Jail. The trial continues, bringing to light the alleged abuse Corey Micciolo suffered and seeking justice for his untimely death.
