Woman’s Reckless Stunt with Siberian Tiger at Zoo Caught on Video

A recent incident at a New Jersey zoo has sparked a police search for a woman who risked her safety by crossing a barrier to interact with a Siberian tiger. The woman’s reckless actions were captured on video and shared by the Bridgeton Police Department on social media, in hopes of identifying her.

The video shows the woman breaching the fence of the tiger enclosure at the Cohanzick Zoo and extending her hand towards the large feline. The tiger, initially curious, suddenly lunges at her hand, prompting her to quickly withdraw it. The woman then appears to pause, seemingly posing for a photo, before retreating over the fence.

The woman’s actions not only endangered her own life but also violated city ordinances. The Cohanzick Zoo, in response to the incident, issued a reminder to its visitors that climbing over any fence is against the law.

The Bridgeton Police Department released a statement describing the incident, stating that the woman “went over the wooden fence at the tiger enclosure and began enticing the tiger almost getting bit by putting her hand through the wire enclosure.” The department has requested the public’s assistance in identifying the woman, encouraging people to submit anonymous tips through its website.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of respecting safety measures when visiting zoos. Bridgeton, where the incident occurred, is located approximately 50 miles south of Philadelphia.

The Cohanzick Zoo, established in 1934, is recognized as the first zoo in New Jersey. It is home to approximately 45 species of animals, including leopards, bears, wallabies, and mountain lions.
