Woman Took Child to Pedophile Doctor in Exchange for Drugs

Investigators say Alicia Evonne Sanchez repeatedly brought a child to a Tyler physician and received prescription medication after alleged assaults.

TYLER, Texas — A 37-year-old Smith County woman has been arrested on a charge of continuous sexual assault of a child under 14 after investigators accused her of repeatedly taking a minor to a physician who allegedly abused the child while providing her with prescription medication.

Alicia Evonne Sanchez, also known as Alicia Evonne Seguin, was arrested Sept. 30 and remained held on a $3 million bond, according to local reports citing Smith County records. Investigators allege Sanchez brought the child to the Tyler office of Kenneth Donald Haygood on numerous occasions and was present during at least 10 alleged assaults. The allegations against Sanchez have not been proven in court.

Authorities have not publicly identified the child, and news organizations have withheld details that could reveal the minor’s identity. According to reporting based on arrest records, the investigation began after the child disclosed the alleged abuse to another adult and a counselor. The child was later interviewed through the Smith County Child Advocacy Center.

Investigators allege the visits began while Haygood was treating the child for medical concerns. According to arrest documents described by East Texas news outlets, Sanchez remained in the examination room during encounters that investigators now characterize as sexual abuse. The child reportedly told investigators that objections and distress during the visits did not cause the examinations to stop.

The arrest records also allege that Haygood provided Sanchez with Adderall and other medication after some of the visits. Investigators say Sanchez placed pills into a bag and gave the child explanations suggesting they were intended for people who could not obtain the medication from their own doctors or were affected by a shortage. Authorities have not publicly detailed whether Sanchez is facing a separate drug-related charge.

Haygood, 56, is already serving an eight-year prison sentence stemming from a separate criminal case. In September 2025, he pleaded guilty in Smith County to sexual assault and practicing medicine without a license, according to KLTV. The sentences on the two counts were ordered to run concurrently, and he is required to register as a sex offender for life.

Haygood had faced additional felony allegations before reaching that plea agreement. KLTV reported that several charges were dismissed as part of the case resolution, including multiple sexual assault counts and an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge. A dismissed charge is not a finding of guilt, and those allegations were not adjudicated at trial.

The Texas Medical Board had taken action against Haygood before his criminal sentencing. In June 2023, the board issued an order restricting him from treating female patients. In October of that year, a disciplinary panel temporarily suspended his medical license after finding that he had violated the earlier restriction and that his continued practice posed a threat to public welfare.

The new case involving Sanchez is separate from the charges that produced Haygood’s 2025 prison sentence. Investigators have alleged that the conduct involving the child occurred during repeated medical visits, but the full chronology and all evidence underlying Sanchez’s charge have not been publicly released. Authorities also have not publicly disclosed Sanchez’s relationship to the child.

Sanchez’s case remains pending in Smith County. No conviction has been entered against her, and additional court dates or charging decisions had not been publicly detailed as of Friday.
