Woman Sues Chick-fil-A Over ‘Black Nugget’ Illness

A recent legal action has brought to light concerns over food safety and quality in a well-known fast-food chain. In Florida, a lawsuit has been filed against Chick-fil-A by Shi’Terra Sharp, who claims that consuming “black” chicken nuggets from one of the chain’s Brooksville outlets led to severe health complications.

Sharp recounts her experience after purchasing the chicken nuggets on January 8, 2020. It was when she began eating them at home that she noticed the meat within the nuggets appeared unusually black. The consumption of these nuggets allegedly caused Sharp to suffer extreme sickness.

According to Sharp’s lawsuit, her symptoms were severe and debilitating. She experienced prolonged bouts of vomiting, extreme abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, and diarrhea. As a result, she sought medical attention multiple times, leading to hospital admissions where she was diagnosed with various gastrointestinal illnesses.

In her lawsuit, filed in Orange County, Sharp details the extent of her suffering, which included injuries to her mouth, throat, stomach, and digestive system. The lawsuit claims that her condition was not only intensely painful but also led to a range of other issues, such as mental anguish, loss of enjoyment in life, and an inability to partake in regular activities.

The lawsuit targets Holland Hospitality, LLC, the operator of the Chick-fil-A restaurant in question. Sharp alleges that the company was negligent in its responsibility to ensure that the food served was safe for consumption. She claims the fast-food chain failed to adequately inspect the quality of its food items before selling them to customers.

Sharp is seeking compensation exceeding $50,000, citing ongoing and possibly permanent damages. Her legal claim encompasses bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, medical expenses, and more. The repercussions, she says, are likely to persist, affecting her life quality indefinitely.

This case puts a spotlight on food safety practices in the fast-food industry and raises questions about quality control measures. While Chick-fil-A has yet to respond to the lawsuit, the incident underscores the importance of vigilant food preparation and handling in the hospitality sector.
