Woman Shoots Good Samaritan, Strips Naked and Rants Post-Crash

A North Carolina woman, following a car crash, allegedly shot a good Samaritan who had stopped to assist her. According to witnesses, the suspect then disrobed completely and began a bizarre rant involving God, a firearm, and a knife.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Visha Franklin, was taken into custody in relation to the incident which left a 40-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, in stable condition in the hospital with a gunshot wound to her face, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 5:16 p.m. reporting a car crash and a shooting on the 4800 block of Matt Hair Road in Fayetteville. The victim had reportedly slowed down to assist at the scene of the crash when Franklin allegedly fired multiple shots into her vehicle, striking her.

A sergeant from the state Highway Patrol informed The Fayetteville Observer that Franklin’s crash occurred when she drove through a front yard, crossed a road, and collided with two trees.

Following her arrest, Franklin was held without bail at the Cumberland County Detention Center. She is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and four counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Witnesses recounted the chaotic scene to Raleigh, North Carolina’s NBC affiliate WRAL-TV. One witness claimed that Franklin had completely disrobed, piled her clothes, and told a firefighter to look her in the eyes, proclaiming herself to be God.

Another witness reported that Franklin was shouting a variety of things, including requests for God to provide her with a gun and a knife, and that she had much to do. She was also reportedly yelling and screaming.

A third witness, speaking to local CBS affiliate WNCN, described Franklin’s actions post-shooting. The witness claimed that Franklin was waving an empty gun in the air and yelling for someone to run her over.

Franklin is scheduled to appear in court on April 9, according to online court records.
