Woman Pleads Guilty to Sexually Abusing Teens She Meet in Hot Tub

A Minnesota woman, Allison Schardin, 39, has confessed to sexually abusing two 15-year-old hockey players she encountered at a hotel hot tub during a family vacation. Schardin, a mother of two, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct on Friday, after initially denying the allegations in May.

The incident occurred on January 14, when Schardin was at a hotel with her husband and children. She initiated a conversation with the two teenage athletes, who were visiting from Colorado with their team. According to a complaint obtained by Law & Crime, Schardin’s husband threatened to end their relationship if she did not leave the hot tub and join him upstairs.

Ignoring her husband’s ultimatum, Schardin exchanged contact information with the teenagers. After a dispute with her husband, she texted one of the boys, asking if she could visit his room. The complaint alleges that Schardin pressured the boys into sexual acts, while a third boy watched.

The complaint also includes a statement from one of the victims, who felt trapped and unsure of how to refuse Schardin’s advances. He stated that he reluctantly agreed to her proposition, despite feeling uncomfortable.

The following day, Schardin tracked the boys to a hockey rink where they were participating in a game. The victim reported feeling nervous and shaken, describing Schardin’s pursuit as “really creepy.”

Once the boys returned to Colorado, Schardin continued to contact them. She pleaded with one boy not to report the incident to the authorities and apologized to the other for her actions.

During an interview with investigators, Schardin admitted to engaging in sexual activities with the two boys in their hotel room. She claimed that she had asked if anyone had a condom, but insisted she had no intention of proceeding with the act.

In return for her guilty plea, another charge was dropped, and prosecutors agreed to a maximum jail sentence of eight months, as reported by the Star Tribune. Schardin is also required to register as a predatory sex offender. Her sentencing is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
