Woman Dies After Being Thrown from Balcony

A shocking incident unfolded at a San Diego, California, apartment complex, leaving the community in disbelief. A man is alleged to have thrown his girlfriend from a third-floor balcony, purportedly in retaliation for her discarding some of his possessions over the same railing. The victim, Irene Williams, 61, suffered severe head trauma and a fractured femur. She was immediately transported to the hospital by emergency medical services, where she later died from her injuries.

The accused, Albert Turner, 57, is now facing first-degree murder charges, as stated in a press release from the San Diego Police Department. The incident took place around 7:21 p.m. on Monday at an apartment complex on the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard. Eyewitnesses who observed the horrifying event promptly dialed 911, reporting that a man had thrown a woman from a balcony.

Investigations into the incident revealed that Williams and Turner had been involved in a heated argument prior to the tragic event. In the midst of the dispute, Williams had reportedly thrown some of Turner’s belongings over the balcony, which allegedly led to the fatal escalation.

Charles Riddle, a neighbor who witnessed the incident, shared his shock with local NBC affiliate KNSD. He recalled being on his way to his car when he overheard the couple’s argument. Before he could reach his vehicle, he saw Turner grab Williams from behind and throw her over the railing. The sight of Williams hitting the ground headfirst deeply traumatized him.

Turner was arrested at the scene by the police. Another neighbor, who requested anonymity, highlighted the significant size difference between Turner and Williams in an interview with KNSD. The neighbor described Williams as a frail, elderly woman, while Turner was depicted as a large, muscular man.

The same neighbor also disclosed that Turner had moved in with Williams just a month or so before the incident. Turner is currently detained at the San Diego County Jail without bond. His court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
