Woman Decapitated, Fell from High-Rise Building

A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when an 80-year-old woman plunged to her death from a high-rise apartment building on the Upper East Side. The woman, whose identity has not been released, fell from the 28th floor of the upscale Park Regis Apartments around 3:30 p.m., according to police reports. Eyewitnesses recounted a gruesome scene as the woman’s body struck the side of the building during the fall, resulting in her decapitation.

Residents of the building were shocked by the incident. One resident, who arrived at the scene shortly after the fall, described the horrific sight of the woman’s body, noting that her head and arm had been severed and landed on a nearby terrace. The woman’s clothing was found entangled on a fence at the base of the building, which was visibly damaged from the impact.

A 23-year-old bystander who witnessed the aftermath of the incident described a frantic scene as people rushed towards the woman’s body. He noted the gruesome sight of the woman’s head and leg impacting the fence, leaving behind a chilling scene of bent metal, blood, and clothing.

The woman was reportedly a resident of the 28th floor of the 33-story building. The New York Police Department (NYPD) has yet to release the woman’s identity or any potential motive behind her decision to end her life.

This tragic event was the second of its kind on Saturday. Earlier in the day, a 52-year-old man also took his own life by jumping from the 17th floor of his 22-story building in Chelsea. The man, whose identity also remains undisclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman, believed to be his wife, was seen visibly distraught outside the building following the incident.

These two incidents highlight the ongoing struggle with mental health and suicide in the city. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of two of its residents, reminding us all of the importance of mental health awareness and support.
