Woman Accused of Blinding Date with Detergent After He Refused to Give Her $2,000

A Texas woman is facing charges after allegedly blinding a man with laundry detergent following a single date. The woman, identified as 26-year-old Kaley Renae Medina, reportedly met the 61-year-old man on a dating website, SeekingArrangement.com, known for connecting younger individuals with wealthier, older partners, often referred to as “sugar daddies.”

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the pair had one date earlier this month, after which the man had no further plans to see Medina. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Medina showed up at the man’s residence unannounced at 2:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. The man allowed her in, and they shared a conversation over wine.

The situation escalated when Medina asked the man for $2,000. When he refused, stating he did not have the money, Medina reportedly became irate. She is accused of causing significant damage to the man’s property, including a mounted flat-screen TV, an entertainment center, and a painting.

The man asked Medina to stop, but she allegedly responded by pouring laundry detergent over his head, causing chemical burns and temporary blindness. Following the assault, Medina is accused of stealing several items from the man’s home, including his passport, an iPhone, a surveillance camera, and a Dyson hair dryer.

The man managed to crawl out of his home, calling for help. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts on his legs and the chemical burns to his eyes.

Medina, who has a previous criminal record that includes a DWI, was arrested and charged with robbery. In 2020, she was also arrested for aggravated assault on a security guard, but the case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. Medina has since posted a $20,000 bond.
