Two Construction Workers Found Dead in Apartment Building

Two construction workers, aged 34 and 35, tragically lost their lives on Saturday afternoon in a Little Italy apartment building. The men were found unconscious in a stairwell at 118 Mulberry St., according to the New York Police Department. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., with emergency services responding promptly.

The younger of the two men was declared dead at the scene, as confirmed by the police. The older worker was given CPR by paramedics as he was transported on a stretcher. Despite the grim scene unfolding, the bustling neighborhood, filled with outdoor diners and pedestrians, seemed largely unaffected.

The older worker was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his condition at the hospital, as reported by the police. The incident unfolded in front of popular eateries such as Casa Bella and Manero’s Pizza, where onlookers appeared to be largely indifferent to the unfolding tragedy.

However, not everyone remained unaffected. A woman at the scene was visibly upset as police arrived and began their investigation. The grim scene contrasted sharply with the otherwise vibrant and bustling neighborhood.

The cause of the workers’ deaths remains undetermined. The NYPD is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by construction workers, even in seemingly safe environments.
