Teenage Girl Killed, Another Critically Injured in Subway Surfing Incident

A tragic incident occurred late Sunday in Queens, where a teenage girl lost her life and another was critically injured after falling from a subway train they were riding atop of, according to police reports. The identity of the deceased teenager, who is the sixth person to lose their life to this dangerous act this year, has not yet been disclosed.

The two girls were reportedly subway surfing on a southbound 7 train when they fell between the cars and were subsequently run over. The incident took place shortly before 11 p.m. at the 111th Street station in Corona. Disturbing images from the scene revealed pairs of sneakers and blood splatters on the sidewalk beneath the elevated station.

One of the girls, believed to be around 13 or 14 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other girl was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in a critical condition. According to sources, she suffered a fractured skull and brain bleeding, and was unable to breathe independently.

The identities of the girls have not been released to the public. This incident marks the sixth subway surfing fatality this year, highlighting an alarming trend often captured on video for social media popularity. Just last week, a 13-year-old boy lost his life in a similar incident at the Forest Avenue station.

In September, an 11-year-old boy named Cayden Thompson was fatally struck in the head by a low metal beam while riding on top of a G train in Brooklyn. In response to these incidents, local leaders have initiated a public information campaign to educate teenagers about the dangers of subway surfing. Despite these efforts, NYPD data suggests that the number of such incidents has been on the rise over the past year. Last year, five people were killed in similar circumstances, according to police records.
