A teenage boy in Florida is currently in custody following an alleged fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy and critically injuring a 48-year-old man. The incident occurred at a residence in Wildwood, Florida, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered Connor Michael Gill, 15, and a middle-aged man, both suffering from severe stab wounds. The victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Gill succumbed to his injuries around 1:20 a.m., while the adult victim remains in critical but stable condition, as reported by Undersheriff Pat Breeden.
The suspect, identified as 16-year-old Alexander Warren Hernandez, reportedly forced his way into the house during a sleepover. Hernandez allegedly stabbed Gill to death and threatened another individual present. The adult victim was stabbed when he attempted to intervene. Hernandez then fled the scene, according to authorities.
Law enforcement officials, with the assistance of a helicopter, located Hernandez walking down the street. He was found in possession of the alleged murder weapons, a scythe and a pocket knife.
Undersheriff Breeden described the incident as a “premeditated and targeted attack.” He further revealed that Hernandez had ordered the weapons online and had received them on the day of the attack. After unpacking and playing with the weapons, Hernandez reportedly walked nearly six miles to Gill’s residence.
The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Hernandez is facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and armed burglary. Additional charges may be forthcoming. It was revealed that both Gill and Hernandez knew each other and had recently withdrawn from Sumter County Schools to be homeschooled.
Hernandez is currently being held without bond at the Sumter County Jail.
