On Sunday, eight passengers aboard a carnival ride, the Fire Ball, were left hanging upside down after a mechanical failure at the Forest County Festival in Crandon, Wisconsin, a city located about 230 miles away from Milwaukee.
The riders remained stuck in this position for at least three hours as first responders worked diligently to bring them down safely. According to Captain Brennan Cook of the Crandon Fire Department, the ride had recently been inspected by the state and no other information is available at this time.
A witness at the scene posted a picture on Facebook of the riders suspended upside down for four hours and said that a young girl asked for an older man to be rescued because he was having difficulty.
Local news outlets reported that seven of the eight riders were children and that all were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
