Renowned Podiatric Surgeon and Fox News Contributor Dr. Kelly Powers Dies at 45

Dr. Kelly Powers, a distinguished podiatric surgeon and frequent Fox News contributor, has died at 45 after a long struggle with cancer. Powers was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2020 following a series of health complications. She initially managed to push the disease into remission, but it sadly returned this year.

Powers was a regular presence on Fox News, often appearing on the talk show Red Eye. She also made significant contributions to Fox Business, where she led discussions on health risks faced by Americans. Despite her media presence, Powers’ primary passion was medicine.

Powers received her education at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed her residency at Georgetown and the Boston University School of Medicine. As a successful podiatric surgeon, she was deeply committed to her profession and her patients. Powers was described in her obituary as a “brave and beautiful soul” with a profound love for people and a dedication to helping others.

In an ironic turn of events, Powers became a patient herself while hosting a Fox News segment on heart health. She experienced shortness of breath and chest pains live on air. Despite undergoing three surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, Powers managed to fight off the cancer. During this time, she also became pregnant and gave birth to a son, Bennett.

In a conversation with Preferred Health Magazine after her initial diagnosis, Powers shared her experience. She said, “It’s crazy – I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business – live – on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can’t make this up.” She later faced a diagnosis of the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma.

Powers humorously referred to herself as “the luckiest unlucky girl” after overcoming her illnesses. She often joked about how her treatment gave her and her infant son, Bennett, matching haircuts. When her cancer returned in 2024, her friends raised nearly $100,000 to fund an experimental treatment that her insurance wouldn’t cover.

Powers is survived by her three-year-old son, Bennett, and her husband, Steve.
