Stefanie Cohen Magarici, a 33-year-old powerlifting influencer known as Stefi Cohen, was arrested in Miami on a domestic violence battery charge on Wednesday. The specifics surrounding the arrest have not been disclosed, and the Miami-Dade Police Department has yet to comment on the matter.
Cohen, originally from Venezuela, is a renowned powerlifting champion. Her arrest comes over a year after she was charged with unauthorized access to a computer, sexual cyberharassment, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest without violence. These charges were related to an incident where she allegedly accessed her ex-boyfriend’s laptop without permission and shared explicit photos of his new girlfriend.
Cohen, who has transitioned from powerlifting to boxing, boasts over a million followers on her Instagram page, where she is known as Dr. Stefi Cohen. The incident in question occurred in March 2022 when Cohen reportedly accessed her ex-boyfriend’s laptop that he had left at a house they previously shared.
According to reports, Cohen managed to guess her ex-boyfriend’s iCloud password, discovering explicit photos of his new girlfriend. She allegedly shared these photos in a group chat with the woman and several others, intending to expose and humiliate her. The incident was reported to Miami detectives by the victim and Cohen’s ex-boyfriend in November 2023.
Cohen was later arrested at her home in Coconut Grove in May 2024. However, she reportedly resisted arrest, walking quickly back to her residence. Despite the resistance, two officers managed to handcuff her, but not before Cohen tripped one of them with her leg.
Cohen, who holds a boxing record of 4-1-1, last fought in June 2023. The Venezuela native is a 25-time world record-breaking powerlifter, holding all-time world records for the squat, total, and deadlift for the 123-pound weight class, according to Men’s Health. She competed in powerlifting competitions from 2015 to 2020. Cohen was most recently in a relationship with fellow influencer Tristan Hamm, who has over 1.9 million followers on Instagram.
