The remains of a popular Brazilian YouTuber, who had been reported missing on Christmas Day, were discovered in the backyard of a neighboring couple’s home. Carlos Henrique Medeiros, 26, was known for his prank videos and skits and had amassed a following of over 1.75 million subscribers on YouTube. His absence was noted when he failed to return home after a dinner with friends, who reported that he had left their residence around 2 a.m.
The search for Medeiros, which included hospitals and local woods, came to a grim conclusion when a mound of dirt was spotted in the yard of a couple he had visited during the holiday season. Medeiros’ sister, Cristiane Aparecida Medeiros, revealed that her brother’s T-shirt was visible in the dirt, prompting a call to the police. The authorities subsequently discovered Medeiros’ body buried at the site.
The couple residing at the property, Renan José, 28, and Caroline Mello, 24, who is currently pregnant, turned themselves in to the police in Itapecerica da Serra, a town outside São Paulo. They provided a shocking account of the events leading to Medeiros’ death, claiming that the YouTuber had died during a drug-fueled sexual encounter with Mello’s sister.
According to Police Chief Luís Roberto Faria Hellmeister, the couple stated that they buried Medeiros’ body as they were unsure of what to do with it. They alleged that Medeiros had an overdose while engaging in sexual activity in the bathroom, and collapsed and died during the act.
An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of Medeiros’ death. The police have reported that there were no visible signs of physical violence such as stab wounds, strangulation, or gunshot wounds on the body. Depending on the autopsy results, the couple could face charges of concealing a corpse if Medeiros’ death is ruled accidental. If evidence of foul play is found, they could be charged with homicide.
Medeiros’ sister, however, remains skeptical of the couple’s account. She questioned why they did not seek medical help if her brother had indeed fallen ill as they claimed. Medeiros, who also had 86,800 followers on Instagram, was known for his engaging online content, and his sudden demise has left his fans in shock.
