PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A police sergeant is facing criminal charges after prosecutors alleged he stalked a nurse, repeatedly sent messages to her and followed her while carrying a loaded handgun during a predawn encounter.
According to court documents, the allegations stem from an incident that occurred after the nurse completed an overnight shift at a hospital around 4 a.m. Investigators said the woman reported receiving repeated messages from the officer before noticing him outside the medical facility.
Authorities allege the sergeant waited near the hospital and then followed the nurse as she left the area. Prosecutors said the woman became alarmed when she realized she was being pursued and contacted authorities. Investigators later reviewed electronic communications and other evidence connected to the complaint.
