Over a year after a Florida mother was tragically killed in her bed alongside her three children, authorities have apprehended her intermittent boyfriend and his cousin, unraveling an alleged scheme to murder her and stage it as a home invasion. Saun Rainge Jr., 32, and Benjamin Garmon, 26, face first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of 30-year-old Porshe Nikita Shanee Streeter, according to an official statement.
The investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office commenced on January 13, 2024, when Streeter was discovered dead with 10 gunshot wounds and Rainge was found with a shoulder injury at her residence. Rainge initially told investigators that he was attacked from behind while checking on Streeter and their three children, aged 10, 2, and 1. He claimed that an intruder entered the home, opened fire, stole $2,000 in cash and three cellphones, and then fled. Rainge alleged that he pursued the intruder, managing to recover the stolen cellphones.
However, over the following months, detectives began to question the veracity of Rainge’s account. Individuals familiar with the couple described their relationship as “toxic,” characterized by frequent breakups and reconciliations. On the night of the incident, the couple had argued over Rainge taking Streeter’s phone charger and apartment key without her consent. Although Rainge occasionally spent the night, he resided elsewhere, and only Streeter’s name was on the rental lease.
Several inconsistencies in Rainge’s story raised suspicions. A functioning surveillance camera that should have captured the incident did not, leading investigators to believe that Rainge may have deleted the footage. Detectives also questioned why the alleged intruder’s shots were accurate when aimed at Streeter but not at Rainge. Furthermore, Rainge’s decision to chase the shooter while unarmed seemed implausible.
Further investigation revealed a contentious custody dispute between Rainge and Streeter, and Rainge’s recent discovery that Streeter had been concealing money from him. Rainge was also reportedly upset about Streeter’s infidelity and a derogatory text message she had sent him.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex showed Rainge and Garmon driving near Streeter’s residence on the morning of the murder, suggesting that Rainge was showing Garmon where Streeter lived. The video also captured a man in a distinctive, brightly-colored Ferrari coat fleeing the scene. Social media photos later revealed Garmon wearing the same coat.
Authorities now believe that Rainge used the stolen key to enter the apartment and enlisted Garmon to kill Streeter. After leaving the apartment, they returned, with Garmon shooting Rainge to make the incident appear as a home invasion.
“Rainge’s story didn’t ring true for our homicide detectives, who have worked tirelessly on this case for more than a year to secure justice for Porshe,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Rainge and Garmon were arrested on Thursday. Rainge is due in court on April 8, while Garmon’s next court date is yet to be determined.
