An 18-year-old is charged with concealing a death as Smyrna police investigate how the woman died and whether anyone else was involved.
SMYRNA, Ga. — Relatives searching for a missing 26-year-old DoorDash driver traced her cellphone to a Smyrna apartment complex, where authorities later discovered a woman’s dismembered remains and arrested an 18-year-old man now considered a person of interest in the death investigation.
Family members identified the missing woman as Shanteria “Tia” Mosely, also known to loved ones as “KT.” Smyrna police had not formally confirmed the identity as of Friday and said DNA testing was expected to help the medical examiner make an official identification. Kingston Bradley, 18, of Smyrna, has been charged with concealing the death of another. Police said he is also a person of interest as detectives investigate the woman’s death, but authorities had not announced a murder charge.
Mosely’s relatives said she left home Wednesday intending to work as a DoorDash driver and later stopped responding to calls and messages. Her family used information from her cellphone to trace her location to the Park Valley Apartments in Smyrna. Relatives said they also located her vehicle at the complex and began searching the property themselves, including knocking on doors as they tried to determine what had happened.
Smyrna police Lt. Meredith Holt said officers first went to the apartment complex at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday after receiving information that the missing woman’s phone and vehicle were there. An officer stayed for about 30 minutes, knocked on doors and spoke with people before leaving, Holt said. Police returned later that evening after witnesses reported additional activity at the complex.
An arrest warrant says a witness saw Bradley carrying a plastic container through an open area of the apartment complex at about 8:15 p.m. The warrant alleges Bradley dropped the container and ran toward a nearby apartment after realizing he had been seen. Investigators subsequently discovered part of a woman’s remains inside the container, according to police records and local news reports.
Investigators then searched the apartment connected to Bradley. According to the arrest warrant, police reported finding bloodstains in several areas and cleaning equipment inside the residence. Investigators also recovered a large saw with what appeared to be blood on it and reported smelling bleach in the apartment. Those findings are allegations contained in the investigation and do not establish who killed the woman or how she died.
DoorDash confirmed to Atlanta News First that the missing woman worked as a driver for the company. However, the company said its records did not show a delivery to or near the Park Valley complex during the relevant period. Police have not publicly established how the woman arrived at the apartments or whether she and Bradley knew each other.
Mosely’s relatives told local reporters that they believed they recognized her from a tattoo, but authorities said formal identification remained with the medical examiner. Holt said people believed to be members of the woman’s family were expected to provide DNA samples. Mosely’s relatives described her as a mother, daughter and sister and said they wanted answers about what happened after she left home.
The family has also questioned the police response during the initial search. Relatives said they continued looking around the complex after an officer left and that their efforts helped uncover information that brought police back to the property. Holt said investigators are reviewing the timeline as detectives interview witnesses, execute search warrants and process evidence from multiple locations.
Bradley remained in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond on the felony charge of concealing the death of another. Police said Friday that he had not provided investigators with a statement. Detectives were still determining whether anyone else may have been involved and had not announced a motive, an official cause or manner of death, or a confirmed relationship between Bradley and the woman.
Smyrna police said the investigation remains active and additional information could be released as evidence is processed and interviews are completed. Until the medical examiner formally identifies the victim and detectives determine what caused her death, authorities said key questions surrounding the case remain unresolved.
