Meat Cleaver Attack Leaves Multiple Victims, Including Children

A violent incident unfolded in Brooklyn on Sunday morning when an individual wielding a meat cleaver attacked several people, including children, before being shot by police officers, according to sources. The attack occurred around 10 a.m. on 84th Street, where the assailant targeted multiple victims, including a woman and three girls aged between 8 and 16, before being apprehended by the New York Police Department (NYPD).

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the horrifying scene. She described seeing two girls, both covered in blood, emerging from the building where the attack took place. The resident, who has lived in the area for seven years, expressed her shock at the violent incident in a neighborhood that has recently seen an influx of new residents.

Graphic images from the scene, obtained by local media, depict one of the young victims covered in blood, and the suspect being transported from the scene on a stretcher. The NYPD responded to a 911 call about the incident, and upon arrival, the suspect reportedly ignored orders to drop his weapon. The suspect then allegedly lunged at the officers with the meat cleaver, prompting them to open fire. The suspect was shot multiple times and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Another local resident, Humbert Huerta, described seeing a man, estimated to be around 40 years old, being taken away on a stretcher. He was shirtless and covered in blood, having been shot twice by the police. All the victims were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, with at least one child reported to be in critical condition.

Sources indicate that the mother of some of the children was not at home during the incident. State Assemblyman Lester Chang, who represents the Brooklyn neighborhood, suggested that one of the victims might have been a babysitter. The NYPD was expected to hold a press conference later on Sunday to provide further details about the incident.
