Mass Shooting at Country Club Wedding Reception

A wedding reception in Nashua, New Hampshire, turned tragic when a gunman opened fire, killing one guest and injuring several others. The incident occurred just as the newlyweds were preparing for their first dance. Witnesses reported that the assailant, who was masked, shouted “Free Palestine” before launching the attack.

The alleged shooter, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, was arrested on Saturday night at the Sky Meadow Country Club, located approximately 40 miles north of Boston. Nadeau has been charged with murder. The deceased victim was identified as 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare.

According to witnesses, the masked gunman stormed the wedding, made obscene gestures at the guests, and declared that the children were safe before shouting his political message. The sudden violence sent the celebration into chaos. “We heard about six shots and everybody ducked for cover and next thing you know we’re rushed into safe spots,” recounted Tom Bartelson, the groom’s uncle.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack, and it remains unclear whether the assault was targeted or random. In the aftermath of the shooting, at least six people were hospitalized with injuries sustained while seeking cover and fleeing the venue.

Initial reports suggested the possibility of two shooters, prompting a large-scale manhunt across southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. However, subsequent investigations and video surveillance confirmed Nadeau as the sole suspect.

The shooting caused panic among the wedding attendees, with many separated from their loved ones in the chaos. Evie O’Rourke, mother of the deceased victim, spoke of the harrowing experience of not being able to locate her son in the aftermath.

Nashua’s Mayor Jim Donchess expressed his condolences to the affected families and praised the local police for their swift response in apprehending the suspect. Nadeau is expected to face additional charges related to the injured victims and is scheduled for arraignment in the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday.
