Man’s Severed Foot Hits Car After Jumping From Building

An 84-year-old man tragically ended his life by jumping from a luxury building on the Upper West Side on Saturday morning. The incident, which resulted in the man’s foot being severed and landing on a car parked nearby, occurred at the Anagram Columbus Circle located at 1 West 60th Street. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, left a suicide note before his fatal fall onto a third-floor balcony around 7:30 a.m., as reported by the police.

The circumstances surrounding the severing of the man’s foot during the fall remain unclear, as does the specific floor from which he jumped. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

The Anagram Columbus Circle is a high-end residential building where a three-bedroom apartment rents for $22,000 a month and a studio for $7,000, according to the property’s website. This incident marks the second suicide in this affluent neighborhood in less than a year.

In a similar incident last August, a 17-year-old New Jersey teen, Noah Legaspi, ended his life by jumping from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located across the street from the Anagram Columbus Circle. Legaspi, an aspiring fashion designer, had reportedly been despondent over a recent breakup with his girlfriend. He had taken a taxi from his ex-girlfriend’s home and had been on a FaceTime call with her before his tragic fall.

The recent incidents have raised concerns about mental health issues among residents in the upscale neighborhood. Mental health professionals urge individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts to seek help immediately.
