Police were called to a Dothan, Alabama home on the 500 block of South Saint Andrews Street on Friday, where they found an elderly woman alone and in a state of extreme distress. She had open wounds across her body, was wearing only an adult diaper, and was crawling on the floor begging for help. She was immediately taken to a local hospital where she may require surgery.
That same day, the police arrested 37-year-old Jason Allan Proctor, a relative of the woman and her primary caregiver, who lives in the same residence. He is currently detained at the Houston County Jail without bond. The age of the victim has not been disclosed.
A similar incident was reported in February in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, where a man was arrested for elderly neglect and abuse, kidnapping, and carrying a firearm during a felony. He had been neglecting his 82-year-old mother and his 91-year-old father, with the latter suffering from a brain bleed, and the former extremely emaciated and weighing between 75 and 80 pounds as a result of her son’s neglect. Neighbors reported hearing him yell and curse at his mother.
