Madonna found unresponsive at home, transferred to ICU

On Saturday, Madonna was found unresponsive at a residence and rushed to a New York City hospital where she was intubated overnight in the ICU.

Her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, has revealed she developed a serious bacterial infection which necessitated her stay in the ICU. The singer has since been moved to a regular ward, and her oldest daughter, Lordes Leon, has been at her side throughout the ordeal. The nature of the bacterial infection is currently unknown, but as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 23,000 Americans die from a range of serious bacterial infections each year.

Consequently, Madonna’s highly-anticipated “Celebration” tour, which was set to start in Vancouver on Jul. 15, has been postponed. Oseary has promised to announce a new tour start date, alongside details for rescheduled shows, when they are available.

The singer has been keeping active in the past few months, celebrating her twin daughters’ elementary school graduation last Wednesday, and spending Mother’s Day with all six of her children in New York City in May. Rumors have circulated that she was getting close to 29-year-old singer Maluma during tour rehearsals last month. Madonna’s current relationship status is unclear.
