Husband Witnesses Wife’s Death in Savage Dog Attack

A 48-year-old Louisiana woman, Brittany LeBlanc, was arrested after authorities alleged that dogs belonging to her fatally attacked her 66-year-old neighbor, Linda Vangorden, while Vangorden was walking in her neighborhood with her husband. The attack was described as sudden and severe, and Vangorden died from her injuries despite emergency response efforts.

Investigators said multiple dogs involved in the mauling were traced to LeBlanc. Law enforcement and animal-control officials reviewed witness statements, records, and prior concerns about the animals while building the case. Prosecutors contend there was sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges related to the ownership and control of the dogs.

The case drew additional attention because authorities allege LeBlanc tried to avoid arrest by claiming she was having a heart attack. Emergency personnel evaluated her, but investigators later alleged the medical emergency was fabricated to delay or prevent her arrest. She was ultimately taken into custody.

The incident has sparked renewed debate about dangerous-dog regulations and owner responsibility. Prosecutors are continuing to review evidence, and future court hearings are expected to reveal more details as the criminal case proceeds.
