A 48-year-old Louisiana woman, Brittany LeBlanc, was arrested after authorities alleged that dogs belonging to her fatally attacked her 66-year-old neighbor, Linda Vangorden, while Vangorden was walking in her neighborhood with her husband. The attack was described as sudden and severe, and Vangorden died from her injuries despite emergency response efforts.
Investigators said multiple dogs involved in the mauling were traced to LeBlanc. Law enforcement and animal-control officials reviewed witness statements, records, and prior concerns about the animals while building the case.
