Hobby Lobby distribution center shooting leaves 1 dead

On Wednesday, a fatal shooting occurred at a Hobby Lobby distribution center located in southwest Oklahoma City. The suspect subsequently died in a car accident during a police chase on Highway 33 near Kingfisher.

Reports from police state that the suspect had fled the scene and was pursued in two counties.

It is believed that the dispute between the suspect and the manager was what caused the altercation to escalate to the point where the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim at least once.

The Oklahoma City Police tweeted that the suspect and the victim were both males and the victim has been identified as 69-year-old Douglas Smith. The suspect’s identity has not been revealed yet.

David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby, issued a statement expressing his condolences and sadness over the passing of Doug Smith due to an act of violence. He also asked for prayers for Doug’s family, friends, co-workers, and the first responders who acted to ensure the safety of their employees.
