Dorsey Ryan Love, a 35-year-old Alabama resident, was taken into custody on July 31, following accusations of domestic violence, including assault and strangulation. These charges were brought forth by his ex-girlfriend, Lindsay Shiver, who alleged that Love had physically abused her at a residence in Dothan, Alabama, on July 25. Shiver, a former beauty queen, claimed that Love had thrown her onto a bed, attempted to strangle her, and suffocated her with a pillow.
On July 29, Shiver sought a protection order against Love, alleging that he had previously abused her during a trip to Florida. This incident was not initially reported to the police. In her statement, Shiver claimed that Love had threatened her life.
In a twist of events, Shiver herself is currently facing charges related to a conspiracy to murder her estranged husband, Robert Shiver. The alleged murder plot was supposed to occur in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023. Robert Shiver had filed for divorce in April of the same year, citing his wife’s alleged infidelity.
Shiver was arrested in August, along with her then-lover, Terrance Bethel, and his friend, Faron Newbold Jr., in Abaco, Bahamas. The police reportedly uncovered the alleged murder plot while investigating a break-in at a bar where Bethel worked. Evidence of the plot was found on Bethel’s phone.
Shiver is accused of sending Newbold a message containing photos of her husband with the instruction to “kill him.” However, she later told police that any talk of murder was made out of anger and frustration following an argument.
In December, Shiver’s attorney, Owen Wells, defended his client’s innocence. He stated that Shiver was facing the legal process with honesty and transparency, and was eager to put the ordeal behind her and reunite with her children.
Robert Shiver, who survived the alleged murder plot, is an insurance executive and former football player for the Atlanta Falcons and Auburn University. Lindsay Shiver, formerly known as Lindsay Shirley, was crowned Miss Houston County in 2005.
Shiver was released on $100,000 bail and allowed to return to the U.S. to live with her parents while wearing an ankle monitor. Her co-defendants were released on $20,000 bail, with conditions including wearing ankle monitors, reporting to the police three times a week, and adhering to a curfew.
